First use is to spot all item on the game in his perimeter of effect, quit short but still usefull for hidden path, since it spot them behind any wall or anything until its on perimeter.
It will also scavenge for you all loot you could have forget on the ground on the perimeter of his effect. by "loot" i mean all part cut off or sometime pile of scrap from enemy ONLY.
It wont scavenge all implant, all box of scrap, and all other thing on the ground who are part of the world, like item quest, etc....
But can be usefull if you miss something after a fight or if you'r lazy :D
