Shielded Gaia's are statue like enemies found exclusively in the Gideon's Rock area. Upon spawning they look like a normal statue but approaching it causes the enemy to come off its' pedestal, manifesting a Gaia Lancer in its' right hand and a shield in it's left hand. Due to the parts of Gideon's Rock that these enemies spawn in it is rather easy for new players to fall prey to them.

GAIA armor schematics (depending on final blow)
GAIA Lancer (Mk. V, cut it's right arm)
GAIA Laser (Drone Module, cut it's head)
Mk. V materials (after all of the above have been acquired)
While initially intimidating, Shielded Gaia's are rather easy to fight. Bait out the attack where they slam their shield into the ground, breaking it. When they do that, step backwards. Afterwards you directional parry until staggered and dish out your favorite brand of punishment. Rinse and repeat until dead, and if you get lucky you might actually get two cuts off one statue.

These enemies can be farmed for x2 head processors and an arm gear coil. Shoot the head off with your drone, pick up the piece then work the arm off, once the arm is cut it will drop another head gear.
You can get 2 cuts off of these if you do not miss any hits. Getting a leg cut and then a head cut is probably the easiest way of killing them. You can also get an arm cut and then a leg cut. Other combos may also work.
